Harry Potter the Exhibition

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Then you should definitely read this article! Since a few weeks there is an exhibition about the movies in the Netherlands (in Utrecht to be exact). In Utrecht, the exhibition will stay until the end of June 2017, but even better.. it’s already announced that it will be extended until 2020 in other cities all over the world! In this article you can read about what you can expect from the Harry Potter exhibition.

Themes
The minute you walk into the exhibition, you’ll get into the Harry Potter ambiance by the music on the background, the small lighting and.. the sorting hat! There are some volunteers who are choosing to attend a group: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin.

When you walk a little bit further, you’ll come in the Gryffindor Common Room. Here you can find the entrance to the room with the painting of the Fat Lady. Furthermore you’ll get to see most of the first part of Harry Potter and Gryffindor, namely the items as their clothes and beds.

And there are many different rooms! You have a room with is specifically focused on quidditch and each room features some items which are showed in the movies, like the wants, the Golden Snitch, school uniforms, costumes worn at the Yule Ball, school books and many more. It’s just so nice to get to see everything in real life. In the quidditch you can even play quidditch yourself by throwing some balls through the rings.

There is also a place which is completely built like Hagrid’s Hut. The minute you’re entering the place, you hear the crows. You can even sit in Hagrid’s big chair! There is also a beautiful statue of buckbeak, Hagrid’s pet in the movies.

Almost at the end of the exhibition, you’ll come in the Great Hall. This hall is well-known for the place where all students come together and have dinner. Not only can you find the flags of all houses in Hogwarts, you can also admire the candles that float above the room, the beautiful costumes which the people wore on the ball or the famous Goblet of Fire.

Shop
At the very end of the exhibition, you’ll come in a replica of Diagon Alley, which is the wizards’ shopping destination in the movies and for us on the exhibition a gift shop. Here you can buy all kinds of souvenirs, like a wand, a scarf, a sweater or some candy. There is so many to buy! However, it can be a little bit expensive. I decided not to buy anything during the time I was there.

Photo moment
At the very beginning of the exhibition, if you are waiting in line for entering it, there is a possibility for making a picture with the people you’ve come with to the exhibition. Of course we decided to do this! We all took a want and pose for the camera. At the end of the exhibition, nearby the giftshop, we could buy our photo. We could also choose a nice Harry Potter themed background. A photo costs € 15,-.

Opening hours and prices
The exhibition in Utrecht is opened every day from 09.30 a.m. until 23.00 p.m. It’s important to buy a ticket before going, because you need to choose a time for entering the exhibition. A ticket for an adult is € 20,- and children between 4 and 14 years old are paying € 16,- for a ticket.

You can still go to the exhibition in Utrecht until the 30th of June 2017. The exhibition takes place in the Cinemec in Leidsche Rijn, a district in Utrecht.

Next destination..
Like I’ve already told in the introduction of this article, the exhibition has been extended until 2020! The exhibition has already been to several places in the whole world, but is currently going through some European cities. I didn’t find exactly what the next destination will be for the exhibition, but there’s definitely going to be one! So stay tuned and keep an eye on the official website of the Harry Potter Exhibition. I hope this gave you a good impression what the exhibition is like. If you’ve watched all Harry Potter movies and are a real fan, this exhibition is definitely worth a visit! I wouldn’t want to miss it.
