Five unmissable places in Australia

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to explore the natural reefs, environment, crystal clear waters and white sands, or looking to experience great food and wine, Australia has got it all. Australia is the seventh largest country in the world by land mass, and no doubt it can be confusing when it comes to choosing what you want to see and do as there is a fair bit of distance between cities.

1. Ningaloo Reef

Chances are, if you’re coming to Australia you’ve heard of the Great Barrier Reef. However, not many people know of Ningaloo Reef located in northern Western Australia. Ningaloo Reef is similar to the Great Barrier Reef, however doesn’t have the same tourist attraction star power. That is, there are fewer activities, less tourists, and less commercialisation of the area. It’s the perfect slice of paradise if you’re looking for a more exclusive trip.

Perfect for marine life lovers, Ningaloo is more than a home for colourful fishes in the reef, but is also on the migrator path of whale sharks, manta rays, whales, dolphins, and much more. To get to Ningaloo, you can drive, or book Webjet flights into Learmonth Airport.

2. The Whitsunday Islands

On the eastern coast of Australia lays the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. If your idea of a holiday mostly consists of spending your days by the beach in pristine sands and undisturbed nature then the Whitsundays’ is the right fit for you. Located up in Queensland, the best time to visit is in spring and summer where the mercury hits 30°C almost every day!

Spend your days relaxing on the fine, white sands of Whitehaven Beach. Stretched over 7 kilometres you’ll be able find your own uninterrupted slice of paradise along the shore. From the shores, the water is crystal clear with varying shades of aquamarine, set in front of an island backdrop. However, make your way up on any of hikes, and from above you’ll see the unreal marbling of the aquamarine waters and white sands of the Whitsundays!

3. Uluru

Also known as Ayers Rock, Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation location in Australia’s Northern Territory. The rock formation is located in Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, which is beautiful in its own right. The national park is largely untouched, with the exception of clear trails for cars that lead drivers throughout the pristine park. Perfect for adventurers, expect hiking trails, waterfalls, and the beautiful great outdoors.

However, what you’re here for is the stunningly beautiful Uluru. It may seem like an odd choice to travel around the world to visit a rock; however Uluru holds substantial significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people, and has been in Australia for millions of years. As such, expect to see rock art and markings on the rock that date back 5,000 years! It will be breathtaking to see Uluru so clearly stand out, whilst completely surrounded by the Australian outback.
