There are many places to stay when you’re traveling to a large city. The same fact can also be said about the Norwegian capital Oslo. There is something for everyone: luxury hotels, hostels, mid-range hotels… You name it! The Best Western Karl Johan Hotell is one of the hotels I’ve stayed at during my time in Oslo. In this article I’ll tell you some more about the hotel and my experience. Would you like to know more about the city Oslo? You can find an extensive city guide by clicking here.

General description – Best Western

Best Western Hotels & Resorts is already for more than 70 years part of the hospitality industry. The hotel chain has hotels in more than 100 countries and areas worldwide which fits everyone’s wishes and needs. With seven hotel brands, you can chose the one which fits you most. The Karl Johan Hotell is part of the brand “Best Western”, which has the characteristics timeless comfort and truly exceptional value.

Location

The hotel is located in the middle of the city center of Oslo, straight at the Karl Johans Gate, which is thé shopping street of Oslo. Here you can find restaurants, bars and all kind of (international) shops. If the location of your accommodation is important for you, you cannot find a better place than here. The Karl Johans Gate definitely is the perfect starting point for a city trip through Oslo. Close to the hotel, you can also find the Slottsparken with its Royal Palace.

Facilities

The hotel is located in a building from the 19th Century, which makes the interior very classic. There is a breakfast room where you can eat something in the morning, but the hotel doesn’t offer a restaurant. However, that’s also not really necessary because there are plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood. The Karl Johan Hotell doesn’t offer many facilities. The reception is open for 24 hours a day and you can leave your luggage here if necessary. There is a meeting room which can be useful for businesses.

Hotel Room

The room we stayed at was very spacious. When we arrived in the room, we could find the bathroom on our left side and we needed to take a very small stairs to get to our bed and other room facilities. Although the room was quite old, I really like the classic style! Furthermore, the room was very clean, which I find the most important thing. Although our room was situated at the side of Karl Johans Gate, which may cause some noise due to the crowded street, I’ve slept very well and didn’t notice a thing from outside.

Breakfast

On one of the floors, you can have breakfast. It’s served in buffet style and offers everything you’ll like to eat. There is something for everyone. I honestly found the room quite small and furnished not that practical, but it was ok. I enjoyed my breakfast anyways.

Price

If you’d like to stay in this hotel, you have to think of a price per night of €115,- for two persons, including breakfast. This is of course depending of the room type you chose for. I can understand why this hotel has this price, because it has the perfect location. It’s quite a reasonable price for the service, room and location you get. You can book this hotel via, among other websites, Booking.com.

This overview is a summary of the point written above.I’ll give a point from one star until five stars where one star is very bad and five stars is very good.
