30 Photos that will make you want to visit Sicily
In summer last year I went to the Italian island Sicily to spend my holidays. I kind of felt in love with this island! It is a destination with so many cultural and beautiful places. From nature to cute, Italian streets.. Sicily has it all!
During my time on the island, I’d brought my Nikon SLR camera and I didn’t regret it afterwards! Here are some of the many photos I’ve made during the week I was at Sicily. These photos will make you wat to visit the island immediately!
The photo’s above were made in the Baroq town Noto. Only for the baroque style it is already recommended to pay a visit to this town. In 2002, this city became part of the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The photo’s above are made in the harbor city Siracusa, which is located near Noto. This city was the capital of Sicily for a very long time and still it is a very big city.
The two photo’s above are made at the Alcantara regional river Park. Here you can see the famous Alcantara gorges with basalt column formations.
The photo’s above are made during an off road and hiking tour on Mount Etna. Look how beautiful the nature is!
The photo’s above are made in the authentic, Italian city Taormina. You surely cannot miss this place when travelling to Sicily.
And of course the island has so many more beautiful places which are still undiscovered by me! When I will get the chance, I would definitely go back and visit new places. Hopefully these photo’s made you want to travel to Sicily as well!

The Thought Card
Sicily’s landscape is incredibly diverse – beach, gorges with basalt columns, volcanic ash, and countryside! I’m spending a week in Rome this summer, maybe I should rethink it and add Sicily!

These photos definitely made me want to go to Sicily. I have never been, but Sicilian food is really popular in NYC and my favorite dessert, the cannoli, is Sicilian. I would love to go and see the historic buildings and beautiful water for myself.

Taormina looks gorgeous! And that gorge with the weird rock formation is fascinating, I love how nature creates such random amazing things!

I visited Sicily 15 years ago. Unfortunately, didn’t go to Etna as it was difficult with the transportation by that time. But I have good memories about Taormina, Catania, Palermo, Agrigento, Segesta and many other small villages.
