5 hotspots in Budapest, Hungary

Budapest features a lot of great eateries where you can enjoy some typical Hungarian dishes for a cheap price. During my trip to the city, I went to some restaurants which I found myself and which people recommended me. I made a top 5 list of hotspots in Budapest.

1. Gerbeaud

Gerbeaud is a café/restaurant, located at the end of the Vaci Street and was recommended by some people who I’ve asked for tips. It is located on a square where you can also find the Hard Rock café and Café de Paris. The square itself already has a really nice ambiance, especially in the evening. It is very crowded with lots of tourists and locals. You can eat typical Hungarian dishes and international dishes at Gerbeaud for a very good price. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. I really enjoyed a nice dinner here.

2. Raday street

There are a lot of different eateries in this street, but actually I would like to recommend the whole street. I think you just have to walk into the street and look where it is cosy and nice for you. Most of the restaurants have especially lots of typical Hungarian dishes, but one time I also sat on a terrace where they had Hungarian and Italian dishes. The street has a great ambiance and you really go into the Hungarian culture. Most of the staff is really friendly and the terraces look really cute. Definitely a must visit!

Address: Ráday utca, Budapest Pest, City Center, District 9

3. The Box Donut

The Box Donut is located a little bit further from the rest. I came to this ‘café’ from a recommendation and I really loved it! You can have some coffee and chose one of the many tasty donuts in square shape. They are filled with cream and are very tasteful, just as the coffee.

Address: 1066 Budapest, Teréz krt. 62.

4. La Lucia

La Lucia is a restaurant, located in the Vaci Street. We ate here unexpectedly, because in the first place we wanted to eat at the Hard Rock café. I have some great experiences with Hard Rock cafés and love to go there at least one time during a trip, but unfortunately I did not like this Hard Rock café (or in other words: the service). We reserved a table for that evening, but when we came there we still had to wait for half an hour! We decided to look further for something to eat and came by La Lucia.

And it was delicious! The restaurant calls itself wok and grill, but you have so many different choices to eat. I decided to eat turkey and it was delicious. One thing I absolutely loved about this restaurant, was the super friendly staff. I find this very important when I go out for dinner somewhere and this restaurant was the best when it comes to service. I really had a great evening.

5. Anna Café

And the Anna Café as well is located in the Vaci Street. Eventhough it can be very crowded and there is a chance you have to wait for a while, this café has some really tasty coffee and lot of choices for food and ice cream. We decided to have a coffee (I took one with coconut) and a plate with all kinds of little Hungarian snacks. It was very tasteful and for a good price.

Address: 1052 Budapest, Váci utca 5.
