My story

I’m Daphne from the Netherlands. Since a young age, I was fascinated about travel and knew I wanted to work in this industry. I got my master’s degree in social sciences, conducted several studies on the effects of tourism and worked for several years as a front office manager in hotels.

Girlswanderlust was founded in 2015 (together with a good friend ‘Tamara’) with the goal of writing helpful travel tips for family and friends. We were two ladies with a big wanderlust, hence the name: Girlswanderlust.

The website grew in articles and visitors and became my part-time job in 2022 when I decided to travel the world indefinitely. Since the end of 2023, I have been back in the Netherlands, working in the Hollandse Duinen National Park to manage tourism there. Meanwhile, I travel a lot through the Netherlands and surrounding countries in Europe and write about it on Girlswanderlust.

I don’t describe myself as the typical travel blogger with beautiful selfies, vlogs and influencer photos. I like to write and share guides that are really helpful.

For me, sustainability and conscious travel is important and I write about it regularly on Girlswanderlust.com. I also enjoy writing detailed guides to make travel easier for you. My goal is to help you to travel and adventure around the world. I also like taking photos and videos with my drone so you can see the world from a different perspective.

I am proud of the blog and how many people I have been able to help through my articles. I am grateful for everyone who follows Girlswanderlust and enjoys discovering the world as much as I do.
