Autumn: 10 amazing travel related things to do!

As much as we all love summer, fall season is almost upon us! The leaves are about to start changing, the days get shorter, and mornings grow chillier. And though we will miss long summer days and warm nights, autumn is approaching. I have collected some amazing travel related things to do in autumn. Continue reading and explore fun autumn travel activities.

Take a camping trip

Camping in fall is great! Cooler, dryer weather means fewer bugs and fewer people, so fall is one of the best times to go camping. Escape the grid and soak up the crisp, fall air from a nearby campsite. Just remember to bring cold weather camping gear and you’ll be comfy in the chilly autumn air! You’ll also have a great view of the gorgeous changing leaves.

Go for a hike

Pack a few bags, bundle up, and make a day trip to a local forest this fall. Consider a hike, scavenger hunt, or peaceful morning walk.

Go pumpkin

Fall season means one thing – pumpkin season! Go visit a local pumpkin farm. Some pumpkin farms and patches offer so much more than fresh picks these days. You can do many fun, free activities that they offer, like hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos. Another fun autumn activity is carving pumpkins. Carve a pumpkin and light up your porch or walkway with it.

Celebrate Halloween

Fall season also means – Halloween! Halloween (also known as All Hallow’s Eve, All Saint’s Eve, and Samhain) falls on the 31st of October every year. There are all sorts of exciting ways to celebrate this event. Go to a costume party, carve a pumpkin, enjoy ghost tours, play trick-or-threat, or many of the other activities.

Do some autumn photography

It has something to do with the low autumn sun and the already epic autumn skies. When the light hits the clouds on its way to the horizon, cities and natural landscapes look even more amazing in the fall season. Multi-colored leaves, teaming autumn wildlife, colorful pumpkins, and clear, sunny days make for great photo ops. See what amazing autumn things you can capture on your camera!

Take a scenic fall drive

Early to mid-fall is the prettiest time of the year, as the trees still have most of their leaves which have turned vibrant with the coming cold. Take a drive down an open country road, wood, or through the mountains, just to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Go on a train ride

If you don’t have a car, go on a train ride! It’s a stress-free experience that allows you to focus on Mother Nature’s colors. Go on a steam engine route that speed through scenic mountain ranges and alongside rivers to enjoy the beautiful fall scenery.

Go for a weekend getaway in the mountains

Book a trip to a log cabin in the mountains or woods. You will be surrounded by multi-colored leaves, teaming autumn wildlife, and crisp fall air. Take a break from the hustle and bustle while surrounded by greenery and wildlife.

Enjoy fall food

Let’s not forget about all the glorious fall food either! As soon as September starts, it’s time to fire up the oven and make way for the best seasonal creations. Prepare some pumpkin- pie, bread, or soup, homemade caramel apples, warm apple cider, hot chocolate, mushroom tartlets, or any other autumn dish.

Host a bonfire

Are you staying in a cozy holiday house with a yard? Host a bonfire! Shorter days and cooler weather make perfect ingredients for a bonfire. Invite friends or family, grill out, have hot apple cider, and enjoy the autumn.
