HOTEL REVIEW: Carlton beach hotel, Scheveningen
The Carlton Beach hotel, The Hague, Scheveningen, is by far one of the most pleasant hotels I have stayed at in the Netherlands. When you would like to visit the beach in the Netherlands, the little town Scheveningen is a nice option to consider. It is a district of The Hague and is known for the sandy beach, promenade, pier, lighthouse, and seaside resorts. I have been several times to Scheveningen, but this was the first time I stayed for an overnight. This post will tell you more about the Carlton Beach Hotel and why you should go there.

General description
The Carlton Beach hotel, The Hague, Scheveningen, is part of the Carlton Hotel Collection. This group provides comfortable luxury hotel accommodation throughout the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Belgium. The Carlton Beach hotel, The Hague, Scheveningen, is located at the seaside of the Netherlands and offers amazing panoramic sea views. The hotel is available for groups, leisure guests, and business guests.
Location and accessibility
The location and accessibility of the hotel is very good. The hotel is only a one minute walk from the beach and boulevard with many restaurants and beach bars. Next to this, The Carlton Beach hotel is conveniently located near public transportation. You can take the train to The Hague, and from there on you can take buses 21 or 22 / tram 1 or 9 and descend on the last stop, ”Zwarte Pad” in front of the hotel. The hotel is also good accessible by car. You can park your car at the hotel’s private parking space. The cost of parking is € 22.00 per car, per night. This sounds expensive, but is a common price for parking in the Scheveningen district.
Address: Gevers Deynootweg 201, 2586 HZ, Den Haag, The Netherlands
Rooms
With 5 room types, the hotel offers quite some possibilities; Superior room, Superior Dune view room, Superior Sea view room, Deluxe room, and Family room. I have stayed in a Superior room with breakfast buffet together with a friend. The room was big (in comparison with stays at other hotel rooms) and was equipped with two beds, a desk, chair, wardrobe, safe, air conditioning, coffee machine, water-boiler, coffee, and tea, full minibar with free water, little table, and seat. Next to this, the room had a balcony. Our view was not that nice (on buildings), but we choose not to pay extra for a better view (dune view or sea view), because you don’t spend a lot of time in the room anyway. If you decide to stay for a longer time in Scheveningen, I recommend booking a room with sea-view. Then you can not only enjoy the view, but also the sun on your balcony. Every balcony is equipped with a table, two chairs, and some flowers (dead flowers in our case)… The bathroom was equipped with a bath, separate shower, and lot of free toiletries. The room and bathroom were very clean, and so were the bed sheets and towels. The room is a little bit old-fashioned in design and colors, but overall very nice!

Restaurant
The Carlton Beach hotel, The Hague, Scheveningen, has a restaurant where you can have breakfast and lunch. The breakfast buffet was amazing! It was a very extensive buffet with fresh fruits, pancakes, waffles, bread, and a good-looking cook who prepares fresh eggs and omelets for you. The hotel also has the Smugglers Grill and Bar. Here you can enjoy the international cuisine and grilled meat or fish dishes.
Hotel facilities
The hotel has different facilities that you can use for free when booking a room. The Carlton Sports Health Center is accessible, where you can fitness or swim in the inside pool. For a little extra cash, you can enjoy one of the saunas, steam baths or massages. When you enter the hotel, you can enjoy a glass of fruit water for free. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel. The hotel also has a bike rental service. You can bike through the dunes or explore Scheveningen and The Hague by bike for only €15,00 per day.
Price
The price of this hotel is very reasonable. Via the website ‘Hotelspecials’, I could book the Superior room for only € 89,00 per room, per night. Including city tax of € 3,35 per person, per night, and service costs of booking via Hotelspecials of € 10,00, the total price was € 105,70, so only € 52,85 per person. This price was including breakfast as well! In my opinion this is a very good price, also if you consider all the facilities that you can use for free and the extensive breakfast buffet.
Overall, The Carlton Beach hotel, The Hague, Scheveningen, is a very good hotel to stay. The rooms are big and clean, the location is very good and exciting, the price is reasonable and there a lot of facilities that you can use for free. Have you been already to this hotel? What do you think about it?

The Thought Card
I also think that this hotel is reasonably priced. I especially like the free breakfast buffet option, this helps save money right out of the back. I also really like the convenience to the beach and public transportation. You’d find me at the sauna!

The Carlton Beach Hotel looks amazing inside and out, and the room looks so clean and well-equipped. The close proximity to the beach, restaurants and public transport is a plus, but I guess you do not need to eat at the restaurant outside if it is just an overnight stay since there are so many good food at the hotel restaurants.

It was indeed clean and well-equipped.. Yeah I actually recommend to eat inside the hotel’s restaurant, because usually the food at the boulevard restaurants serve low quality food. They just have to deal with tourists for a day.. The hotel would like to have return visitors and serve high quality food for a reasonable price! =)

Now that’s an architecturally unusual looking building. I’m not sure I like the externals but it looks comfortable inside. The rates are pretty decent too.
