What are the best clothes to wear in Australia?
For a lot of people, a bucket list destination is Australia, the great down under. From Bondi Beach to The Great Barrier Reef, there is so much to see and explore in the land of Oz. Of course, you won’t just be spending time outdoors; you’ll be enjoying the vibrant nightlife in major cities like Sydney and Melbourne also, so you want to make sure you are well prepared when it comes to your packing. Without further ado, here’s your essential packing list so you know what clothes to wear in Australia.

Light layers you love
When traveling, you want to look great for all the selfies you’ll be snapping, for example at the instagrammable cafes in Sydney, but being comfortable is vital. Whether you’re a minimalist with a capsule wardrobe or not, you want to bring pieces you love while traveling. Getting ready at home is hard enough, but when you’re on vacation, especially somewhere you’re going to do a lot of exploring, you want to be comfortable – and we’re comfy in our favorites.
Make sure you pack layers like tanks and short sleeves worn under light sweaters or jackets. Even in the “colder” months, Australia won’t seem too cold to you if you’re from the Northern Hemisphere. So the key is dressing in layers to make sure you can get through your day comfortably.

Functional footwear during your trip in Australia
Whether you’re hiking through Kakadu National Park, exploring Kangaroo Island, or enjoying one of many beaches, your footwear choices are paramount when you’re in Australia. Of course, you want a pair of flip flops packed since you’ll likely be spending a ton of time on the beaches while there, but you’ll also want some comfortable womens sneakers for touring the cities. In addition to that, it’s a good idea to pack some hiking boots with you because hiking down under is second to virtually nowhere in the world. No matter where in the country you are, from Broome to Tasmania, you can find majestic hiking opportunities. Do your feet a favor and keep your footwear functional.

Fun evening clothes to wear in Australia
The culture scene in Melbourne is unlike anywhere else in the world. Think New York but make it beachy. There are seemingly unlimited opportunities to go out and have an exciting night in Melbourne, so you’re going to want outfits you feel good in at a club. Clubs worth checking out while you’re in Melbourne are the Main Room or 29th Apartment. If you’re in Sydney, you have to head to The Junction.
In addition to the club clothing, it’s wise to pack at least one formal outfit because there is some serious fine dining like Kazuki’s or Phillippe in Melbourne. Make sure you bring some statement jewelry with you and a pair of heels to kick things up a notch on nights like these. Because let’s face it, you’ll be staring at these pictures for years to come remembering this trip of a lifetime!

Beach bound?
It goes without saying that you’re going to be heading to some of the most fabulous beaches in the world while in Australia. Whether you’re spending your days laying out on Cottesloe Beach or Jervis Bay, you want to have options. There’s nothing worse than putting on yesterday’s still damp swimsuit, so pack at least two bikinis. In addition to swimwear, you’ll want a couple of coverups in your suitcase and a sun hat to protect the delicate skin on your face.

Australia is a destination that even the most seasoned travelers get excited and dream about – lucky you! But, as any well-traveled person knows, there’s nothing worse than not having that particular item you need for your trip. So, keep the things mentioned above in mind while packing for your trip to Oz. Happy trails!
