Drive from Dubai to some of the best places in the United Arab Emirates

For many people, the United Arab Emirates is primarily associated with the skyscrapers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. But those who are not afraid to venture beyond the glittering modern metropolises will be rewarded with a wealth of experiences from natural wonders, from sand dunes to breathtaking fjords.

I selected for you some of the most spectacular places that are located not very far from Dubai and where you can go without breaking your budget. How is it, you ask? It’s very simple – you can rent a car and drive on your own, enjoying fabulous views and making stops where and when you want. And to make the trip more interesting and fun, you can rent sport car. In Dubai, there are many rental shops with luxury (and cheap!) cars for hiring and this is easy to do. Make sure to prepare well for the road trip before you head out to all these beautiful places around Dubai:

Fujairah

What could be better than a leisurely beach holiday in Fujairah? Here you can tirelessly swim in the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Oman or relax and sunbathe on the warm sand. Fujairah is also a famous dive location and one of the best dive sites in the UAE. Other popular activities are beach horse riding and visiting Snoopy Island.

The road to Fujairah is relatively easy. Be sure to visit Wadi Wuraiya. This is the only mountain range in the UAE that is protected by the World Wildlife Fund. Here you can have a picnic at the waterfall and see the oldest functioning mosque in the country. It’s definitely worth a stop!

Al Ain

Dunes, date farms, and ancient forts – Al Ain is truly one of the most beautiful areas in the UAE. As you move along excellent local roads, you will see many camels along the way. It is not for nothing that the area was nicknamed the “City of Gardens”. This Arabian paradise truly stands out for its abundance of natural springs, oases, and lush greenery.

Your trip will culminate in the dizzying peak of Jebel Hafeet. Winding mountain roads lead you up to a height of 1250 m and enjoy magnificent views of the dunes. And when you get to the city, you can treat yourself to a trip to the Al Ain Zoo. There you can watch wild animals and feed the giraffe.

Dibba

The picturesque east coast of the UAE is a combination of high mountain ranges and seascapes, where you can find many suitable places for a picnic or for snorkeling. Take a dhow cruise to the center of the Musandam Peninsula. There you can swim in the crystal clear water or go with the whole family to conquer new mountain peaks.

Don’t forget to take your passport with you – part of Dibba is located in the Gulf of Oman, so you will need documents.

Liva

You will cross one of the largest oases in the Arabian Peninsula, admiring the changing desert landscape along the way. Liwa is located 250 km south of Abu Dhabi and consists of breathtaking sand dunes, villages, and farms. The giant dunes are famous not only for the legendary names of their explorers but also for the fact that they were featured in Hollywood blockbusters such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens (filmed in 2014).
