Gorges du Tarn: a tiny house along the river

The region of Gorges du Tarn, located in the southern part of France, is a beautiful region to spend (part of) your holidays. You’ll find rugged landscapes and pretty, small villages. During our search to an accommodation in this region, we came across Camping Yellow Village – Nature et Rivière. A small camping located directly at river the Tarn.

During our time in Gorges du Tarn, we stayed five nights at Yelloh Village Nature et Rivière and in this post I’d like to tell you some more about the accommodation.

Location

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

The camping is located in a peaceful and green area. It’s located directly at river the Tarn, so you can have some beautiful views over the river and on the cliffs. Nature is all around and there’s not much in the direct environment. The small town of Sainte-Enimie is at 3 kilometers from the camping (a picturesque town!), but when you need to do some shopping it’s better to go to Florac, as you can find the big supermarkets in this place. Florac is located at 45 minutes driving distance from the camping. You can do some shopping in Sainte-Enimie, but you can only buy the minimum.

In short: when you are a nature lover and you like being in a quiet environment, you’re at the perfect place! However, keep in mind that most places are a little further so it’s definitely recommended to have a (rental)car when booking this accommodation.

The tiny house

Rating: 4 out of 5.

During our time at Camping Yellow Village – Nature et Rivière, we stayed in a tiny house (the photos in this article are based on the tiny house). It wasn’t busy at the camping and thanks to that we had a lot of privacy, which was really nice. From our tiny house, we were at the small beach of the river in just a minute walk.

We had a nice stay at the tiny house. It has a terrace with a seat and inside there’s a kitchen with a seat, a bathroom, a separated toilet, a bedroom and a mezzanine with two extra beds. As we were with two, the mezzanine was very handy for the storage of our luggage. There isn’t a lot more space in the house for the luggage, so keep this in mind when you’re travelling with four persons.

As the house is located near the river, you can hear the sounds of the river all the time which, I personally, really like. In the kitchen, there was everything we needed (we only missed a bottle opener for our beers ;-)) and everything was well equipped. The only thing I wasn’t really fan of, was the bed. I didn’t really sleep well these nights, because there was no duvet and it was quite a small bed. Luckily, we brought our own pillows.

Facilities

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

At the entrance of the camping, you can find the reception where you need to check-in. At the reception, there also is a very small store when you can buy the necessary products. Don’t expect much of it, because it’s really not that much of products which you can buy. Each day, you can order some breakfast for the next day. You can pick this up at the reception. For a drink or so, you can have a seat near the reception, in- or outside.

For the travelers who’re staying in a tent (or in their own camper without shower), there’s a general building where you can find toilets, showers and sinks. I haven’t been in here myself, so I cannot review the building.

Next to the above facilities, there’s a playground on the site for the children.

Service

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

We had a nice welcome when we arrived at the camping. The woman at the reception could speak English and she explained to us where to find our tiny home and how it worked with ordering our breakfast for the following days. She helped us very well. Other moments than picking up our bread each morning we didn’t have with the staff of the camping. The same woman was there each day and each day friendly and hospitable.

Price

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

It’s not expensive to stay at the camping. Looking at our specific accommodation (tiny house), we paid approximately € 50,- per night (without breakfast), so that’s very cheap! We did stay outside high season though (September). I’ve taken a quick look at the prices for this summer season (2022) and you can book the tiny house for € 110,- per night when arriving in July. The price-quality ratio is very good in my opinion.

In summary, we had a really nice stay at Camping Yellow Village – Nature et Rivière. We stayed in a cosy tiny hose directly at the river, in a relaxing environment. Although there weren’t many facilities or possibilities in the direct environment, we didn’t mind ourselves. We had our car so we could drive anywhere. I would recommend this camping for travelers who’re looking for a quiet and nice place to stay.
