The 10 best rated High Tea locations in Utrecht

In the inner city of Utrecht you can find plenty of places where you can have a high tea. This makes it difficult to find the right one for you and your friends. To help you out I have made an overview of the 10 best rated high tea locations in Utrecht.

And good news for coffee lovers: some high tea locations also serve great cappuccinos. Feel like something stronger? This list with best rated high tea locations in Utrecht also includes places where you can start with bubbles! Sounds good huh?

Restaurant de Kleine Baron (organic products only)

If you are a nature lover or love fresh and honest products, you should visit de Kleine Baron in Utrecht. Their high tea is full of fantastic delicacies from their own kitchen. They prefer to use real organic local products and you can taste that! The high tea consists of a fudge, fair trade dark chocolate brownie, bonbon, mini currant bun with sweetened whipped cream, homemade pumpkin quiche with old Utrecht cheese, sandwich with various fillings, soup, wraps, petit four and of course delicious tea.

Vlaamsch Broodhuys (famous for its cakes)

There are two Vlaamsch Broodhuys locations in the centre of Utrecht and I am a huge fan of their cakes. My favourite cakes are the lemon-cream tartlet or the rhubarb-raspberry variant. Their delicious high tea consists of a homemade seasonal soup, various types of sourdough bread with a variety of savory fillings, delicious scones with clotted cream and jam, fresh tart from the patisserie and a pot of tea with a choice of different flavors of tea.

Teds Utrecht (high tea at the Oude Gracht)

Teds Utrecht is situated in a beautiful location. It has a terrace on the Oude Gracht with the Dom tower in sight. On the menu of Teds you will also find high tea. This consists of a glass of bubbles, teapot with tea of your choice, sandwiches, bruschettas, banana pancakes with Nutella and sweet snacks.

Yoghurt Barn Neude (organic products only)

A high tea at a yoghurt bar…? Yes, that really is possible! And it’s one of the best high teas I’ve ever tasted! The high tea of Yoghurt Barn Neude (center of Utrecht) consists of crispy barn toast, fresh bread rolls with homemade yoghurt dips, beet wraps with avocado spread, various pastries in all colors and flavors, a brownie and many more goodies. You also have unlimited enjoyment of versatile flavors of loose tea. Oh and did I already mention that the high tea at Yoghurt Barn Neude is organic?!

Be sure to make a reservation if you want to have high tea here, because the center of Utrecht can get pretty busy and this Yogurt Barn location is not super big either.

Carla’s Conditorie (vegan bakery and coffee bar)

Close to the Dom tower you will find Carla’s Conditorie, a small and cozy joint , where you can order a top of the bill high tea. The walls are papered with cute paintings and there are shelves full of vintage teacups. Their menu is 100% vegetarian and even almost everything is vegan. Every day they bake delicious breads, cakes and pies in the bakery.

The high tea at Carla’s condor includes pieces of homemade cake, cookies, a chocolate ball, smushi’s, hot drinks and a juice from Schulp. Here you can also order a hot cappuccino, latte macchiato or bottle of soda.

Anne & Max (budget high tea)

Anne & Max (multiple locations throughout the Netherlands) on the Donkere Gaard in the center of Utrecht also offers high tea. The high tea is simple but consists of many delicious items, such as cake, muffins, scones, cookies, savory snacks, soup and with as much tea as you can drink. Here you can also order a vegan high tea.

De Bakkerswinkel (best high tea spot in Utrecht)

World famous among high tea lovers: De Bakkerswinkel. This is truly one of the best high tea spots in Utrecht. The location is incredibly cozy and fun! You sit here at nice tables in a cozy cellar. The extensive high tea consists of scones with homemade jam and clotted cream, finger sandwiches, quiche, friandises, various homemade cakes, fruit juice and high quality tea. You can start your high tea extra festive with a glass of cava.

Karel 5 (high tea in a 14th-century monastery)

Want to enjoy a luxurious high tea at one of the most beautiful spots in the center of Utrecht? Then choose a high tea at Karel 5. Karel 5 is located in a 14th-century monastery in central Utrecht, at the foot of the Dom tower. Your high tea at Karel 5 starts with a glass of bubbles and a surprising amuse bouche, followed by several sweet and savory courses like sausage rolls, sandwiches, a classic scone with clotted cream and much more.

The Streetfood Club (high tea with a cocktail)

The Streetfood Club is one of the newer places in Utrecht and famous for its cocktails. At this cafe you start with a teapot filled with a refreshing cocktail. Then a large basket of Asian street food is served. Think about spring rolls, dim sum, salad, sweet dishes, and a pot of tea.

Stadskasteel Oudaen (high tea at a city castle)

One of my other favorite high tea locations in Utrecht is stadskasteel Oudaen. A high tea in a historic and cozy city castle in the heart of Utrecht. Choose a standard high tea or a luxury high tea (with cava and beef broth). The high tea includes delicious freshly made sandwiches, various sweet bites, fresh orange juice, coffee, and tea.

In addition to all these great locations offering high tea in Utrecht, there is much more to do in Utrecht. If you’re taking a day trip to Utrecht, you can plan sights and activities. For example, you can reserve a high tea in advance and plan the rest of your day around it. Perhaps you like the idea of canoeing on the Oude Gracht?
