Hotel de Werelt in Lunteren

Hotel de Werelt used to be a conference center where companies could organize a (multiple day) conference, symposium, or meeting. Partially due to the corona pandemic, the hotel has become more focused on the leisure market. For this reason non-business guests can also stay at the hotel since July 2021. And this is great! Hotel de Werelt is one of the finest hotels me and my partner have ever stayed in. The rooms of the hotel are not large, but the location and the facilities the hotel offers are surpassing. Nearby the Veluwe & geographical centre of the Netherlands

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The hotel is located in a wonderful place in the middle of the woods and on the edge of the most beautiful nature reserve in the Netherlands, the Veluwe! If you are a nature-lover, you will love this hotel for sure! The hotel is wonderful in atmosphere and appearance. There’re many places around where you can sit quietly. You can park your car for free at the hotel.

You can find many miles (kilometres) of walking paths nearby the hotel with an occasional lookout tower or a wildlife observation post. Near hotel de Werelt you will also find the geographical centre of the Netherlands. This walking route takes you along the Goudsberg, through the Lunterse Bos, to the enormous boulder which marks the geographical centre spot and along the watchtower ‘De Koepel’. If you go for a walk in the early morning or evening, chances are that a group of deer will cross the forest path right before your eyes. Just set off and enjoy the tranquility of nature!

There are also plenty of cycling routes and MTB routes nearby. Other fun things to do nearby hotel de Werelt are visiting the Bosbad swimming pool in Lunteren, admiring the wonderful art exhibits in the Kröller-Müller Museum, exploring the National Park ‘De Hoge Veluwe’ or to go for a stroll through the picturesque village of Hoenderloo where you can eat the best ice cream in the Veluwe.

Overnight in a standard king room

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Hotel de Werelt has 5 room types: double room, standard king room, deluxe king room, deluxe single room or a deluxe twin room with a king-size or queen-size bed. We stayed at a standard king room. The room was nicely renovated but quite small, especially the bathroom was very small. Due to the nice weather, this did not bother us because we were always outside. The temperature in the room was much too warm and not controllable itself. Perhaps the other room types are larger and more comfortable. The room featured a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, an electric kettle and coffee-machine, a desk, a closet and a private bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Check-in was between 15.00 PM and 23.00 PM and check-out until 11.00 AM.

Having breakfast in the open air

Rating: 4 out of 5.

In the hotel’s restaurant you can enjoy a breakfast buffet. There is a variety of baked breads, eggs, different kinds of cheeses and meat slices, fruit, selection of cereals and much more! The granola seemed homemade and there was someone from the kitchen to fry fresh eggs. The breakfast was fine and the terrace where we could have breakfast was fantastic. We were having breakfast in the open air and had a view of the forest.

Tip: spread throughout the hotel you can get free coffee, tea, water or bubble water all day!

Entertain yourself in the atelier, library, game room and cinema room

Rating: 5 out of 5.

What’s super fun about this hotel is that it has an atelier, library, game room and cinema room. In the atelier you can find all kinds of stuff like fabric, brushes, paint, beads, and more and you can do crafts for hours for free. Super fun! The library also has a nice collection of books and the cinema room is well organized. They run a movie every night for which you can register at the reception. The wellness (including pool) was unfortunately closed due to maintenance, so we were not able to try it out. The hotel also features a restaurant, bar, garden and free WiFi in all areas. All public areas and facilities have been renovated despite and still look super new and mode

The hotel also offers a bike rental. Getting around the Veluwe by bike is the best way possible. You can park your own bicycles overnight in a cage that can be locked.

The staff at the reception and restaurant was courteous although somewhat disinterested and slow. It was obvious that the staff was new and still had things to learn.

The overnight stay at hotel de Werelt really exceeded our expectations. It was all new, so beautiful and the location was amazing. Most fun about this hotel was the atelier, library, game room and cinema room. The staff was very friendly, but still had to discover everything how it worked, but all did their best.
