Hotel Review Hotel Rauw aan de Kade

If you happen to be in the Netherlands and you’re looking for a place to stay nearby the sea, than this hotel in Ijmuiden may be something for you. Although the place Ijmuiden isn’t that big and lively, the beach of Ijmuiden is beautiful and not as crowded as in, for example, Scheveningen. There are some beach pavilions where you can eat or drink something and it’s a perfect place for a getaway to the beach in the Netherlands.

During my time in Ijmuiden, I stayed at the hotel Rauw aan de Kade, which is located just between the city centre of Ijmuiden and the beach. In this article I’ll tell you some more about this accommodation.

General description
Hotel Rauw aan de Kade is a hotel located in Ijmuiden which offers 20 fresh and modern rooms. Besides six Comfort rooms, the hotel also offers four Superior rooms, eight Deluxe rooms with port view and four single rooms with an XL bed. The hotel shows the image of a beautiful combination between luxury, character, visual aspects and raw elements.

Location
Like said before, the hotel has a perfect location just between the city centre of Ijmuiden and the beach. At a walking distance of approximately half an hour you will be in the city centre of Ijmuiden, where you can find some shops and where you can eat something. For the beach we drove around 10 minutes by car and we arrived at a beautiful and peaceful piece of beach where we found a nice beach pavilion. With great weather, this is the perfect beach location!

Facilities
Although the rooms are fresh and perfect, the hotel doesn’t offer that much facilities. There is place to have breakfast in the morning and at the ground floor you can find a restaurant and bar. There also is a small reception at the first or second floor where you can check in and ask some questions. And that’s all there is. If you don’t need anything more than a place to sleep and eat something, this is a good place. If you would like to have a swimming pool or fitness room in the hotel, you should go look for another hotel.

Hotel Room
During our stay in Hotel Rauw aan de Kade, we slept in one of the Superior rooms. These rooms are a bit bigger than the Comfort and Deluxe rooms and I have to say… the room was just perfect! It was very spacious and the equipment was very unique and characteristic. There was a swing set in the room and even a record player. The bed was just really comfortable and also the bathroom had everything you need. The room looked so modern and it definitely was one of my favourites of all the hotel rooms I slept at in the Netherlands. Only the view wasn’t that special, but that wasn’t a point at all for me.

Restaurant
The breakfast area is at a different place than the restaurant on the ground floor. On one of the other floors of the hotel, you can find the breakfast area. Although there isn’t much variation, the breakfast buffet has several things to offer which taste delicious and is really fresh. Although I haven’t eaten in the restaurant on the ground floor for dinner, I know there is a possibility to do so. However, I’m not able to say something about the service and quality of the restaurant. I’ve been one night to the bar for a drink, which was really nice though. There were even some board games which you could play with each other. We had a lovely evening.

Price
This hotel isn’t really suitable for budget travellers, because you pay around € 120,- per room, per night (including breakfast). However, I have to say that this was one of the most affordable places to stay at close to the beach, anywhere in the Netherlands, at the time we went there and when we booked it. Wanting to book a hotel nearby the beach in summer season can be more expensive, since more people would have the same idea. You can book this hotel via Booking.com.

Above you can find how I think about the several subjects regarding the hotel. This is a hotel which I can definitely recommend to people who love to have a spacious room and doesn’t need much more. The hotel is very good, but isn’t that big. That’s also the reason why there aren’t many facilities. You can have breakfast and there is a restaurant/bar at the ground floor. However, there is no other common room in the hotel. The location also is a great central point between the city center and the beach. You have to ride a little by car to reach the beach, but if that isn’t a problem for you than this hotel is a great choice.
