Hotel Review Thon Hotel Maritim****

Stavanger is a city which is base to visiting the Preikestolen, where I wrote about in this article. Besides, Stavanger also is a beautiful city for sightseeing in the center itself. More about the city, you can read in this article. A perfect and central place to stay at during your time in Stavanger, is the Thon Hotel Maritim. In this article I will tell you some more about this 4-star hotel.

General description – Thon Hotels
Thon Hotels is part of Olav Thon Gruppen and features hotels in Norway, Brussels and Rotterdam. The Thon Hotel chain tries to give a warm atmosphere in the hotels with a high service level and professional employees. The chain tries to give the guests a positive hotel experience, every time again.

Location
Thon Hotel Maritim is located in the middle of the center of Stavanger. Right at the park of the city, together with its lake, you can find the hotel. From here, it’s only a few minutes of walking towards the train- and bus station. Besides, the shops and restaurant also are only a few minutes walking. If you’re planning a day trip to the Preikestolen and you’re planning to go by ferry to Tau, you can easily reach the port of Stavanger from the hotel. It’s only a ten minutes’ walk approximately.

Facilities
The hotel features 223 rooms. Currently, the hotel is busy with renovating all rooms to more modern rooms. More than half of the rooms already is renovated, but at the moment they’re still working on the last rooms. There are some larger, family rooms (around 11) and the hotel also offer some disabled rooms (4 in total).

In the lobby of the hotel you can have some free coffee or tea and you can play some games, which the hotel own and which you can grab from the planks where the games are. There also are some spaces where you can have a private party for bigger groups, but it’s also suitable for business groups.

Hotel Room
During our stay, we had a renovated room in the first place. However, when we arrived in the room, the room wasn’t clean yet. Of course we directly went to the reception to ask for another room. The hotel was fully booked, but there was another room available which wasn’t renovated yet. Although this room wasn’t renovated, in my opinion it still was a nice and spacious room. I think this was a family room, while there was place for four persons to sleep in the room. The bathroom was good and there was a minibar where you could grab something to drink or where you could keep your bottle of water cold.

Restaurant
Although there is no possibility to have dinner in the hotel, Thon Hotel Maritim does offer a quite big restaurant where you can have a delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and there is something for everyone! I was very satisfied with the breakfast they offer.

Price
You can book this hotel for approximately € 140,- per night for two persons, including breakfast. It’s not suitable for the budget travellers, but it’s definitely worth the price if you are looking for a very good hotel with a central location. You can book this hotel via Booking.com.
