Hotel review: TURIM Av. Liberdade Hotel**** in Lisbon

Back in 2015, I’ve visited Lisbon for a short week with my family. During those days, I’ve stayed at the TURIM Av. Liberdade Hotel. If you are planning on going to Lisbon, maybe this hotel is an option for you to stay at. In this article I will give you a review of this four stars hotel.

General description: TURIM hotels
TURIM hotels is a Portuguese hotel chain with hotels through Portugal and Madeira. Lisbon consists out of 11 TURIM hotels, Azeitão has one hotel, the Algarve has three hotels, Sintra consists out of one hotel, Porto out of one and Madeira also features one TURIM hotel.

Location
The hotel is located close to the Marquês de Pobol and has its main entrance to one of the most famous avenues in Europe, Avenida da Liberdade. You only have to walk through this big avenue and you will arrive in the city center. It is approximately a walking distance of 20 minutes, so if you don’t mind walking, the place is perfect. At the other side of the hotel, you walk directly into the Eduardo VII Park. Walk upstairs to the end of the park and enjoy a perfect view over the city center and the water.

Facilities
At the moment when I was in the hotel, there weren’t a lot of facilities yet. The hotel features a Pizzeria Steak House restaurant and a Gin Twist Bar. However, looking on the website, I can find the following information: ‘Soon the Hotel will also offer Meeting Rooms, Multimedia Auditorium, SPA and Indoor Swimming Pool.’ So I guess in the future, the hotel will feature a few more facilities.

Hotel room
The hotel consists out of 166 rooms, including standard, superior and executive rooms. During my trip, I stayed in a standard room, which had quite a space. It includes a double bed or two separated beds and another room, where you can find the bathroom. We had a bath with a showerhead. Some of the rooms has a window which connects the bathroom with the sleeping area, which makes it very unique. Of course there is a possibility to close the ‘curtains’. In my opinion, the beds were/are very comfortable, but that’s of course very personal.

Restaurant
The hotel features a Pizzeria Steak House restaurant where you can eat mainly Italian or other Portuguese inspired dishes. I haven’t been to the restaurant to have dinner, so unfortunately I cannot give you a good review of it. I have had breakfasts in the mornings and this was very well served. There were many choices and the breakfast tasted very well.

Price
I have to be honest and tell you that the hotel isn’t the cheapest in the city, but overall looking at the price/quality ratio, it is very honest and good. The people in the hotel are very friendly and will help you at all time. When you arrive and check-in, one of the employees will take you to your room and carry your luggage. Furthermore, the breakfast is very extensive and the rooms are very spacious and clean. Besides, the location isn’t in the city center, but very close to the most important tourist attractions. For one night you pay approximately € 130,- for 2 persons in a standard room. You can book this hotel via Booking.com.

Overview
The overview is a summary of the points written above. I’ll give a point from one star until five stars where one star is very bad and five stars is very good.

Location: ****
Room size: *****
Room attributes: ****
Bathroom: ****
Breakfast: ****
Facilities: ***
Price – quality: ****

Like you can see at the scores, I can definitely recommend spending your trip to Lisbon in this hotel. Especially the service and the ‘little luxury’ makes it a great place to stay.
