General description
Van der Valk hotel Duiven is part of the big hospitality chain originating in the Netherlands and run by the Van der Valk family. The chain has more than 50 locations in the Netherlands and around 30 locations in other nations.

Location
The location and accessibility of the hotel is very good. The hotel is located between the German border and the two big Dutch cities ‘Arnhem‘ and ‘Nijmegen‘. It is a beautiful area to go cycling, hiking or do some sightseeing. Important sights in the neighborhood are Burgers Zoo, Dutch Open Air museum, National park de Hoge Veluwe and the Dutch brick and tile factory: Panoven Country Estate. The hotel is located next to the highway A12, what makes it easy reachable.

Rooms
The hotel has different room types, namely: luxurious room, family room, atlantis suite, aphrodite suite, neptunes suite and augustus suite. During my stay at Van der Valk Duiven, I stayed in a luxurious room with whirlpool and separate rain shower. In my opinion, the rooms are big and clean. There is a desk with a chair, two seats, flatscreen-television, refrigerator, water-boiler, laptop safe, telephone, free wifi, wardrobe and balcony. The balcony is small and there are no chairs on it, what is a pity. The bathroom is of a big size and the whirlpool is very nice. The bathroom also features free toiletries and a hairdryer of good quality. I only missed toiletries for the whirlpool like bathsoap.

Restaurant
The restaurant provides breakfast buffet, lunch, lunch buffet, live cooking, à la carte and Sunday brunch. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and includes lots of beverages, cold buffet and hot buffet. The price for resident guests amounts to € 12,50 and to non-resident guests € 15,00. The lunch buffet is also of good quality. It looks like the breakfast buffet, but also includes two kinds of soups, warm dishes and à la minute fried meat and fish. The price of the lunch buffet for adults amounts to € 16,50. You can also order lunch from the menu card. However, in my opinion these prices are quite high and you can enjoy more food for a better price during the lunch buffet. The live cooking and Sunday brunch are only one day in the weekend. These buffets are also very extensive and of good quality. Both buffets include (selected) beverages). Next to this, the hotel also has an à la carte menu card for dinner.

Bar
The bar is called ‘Exclusive Purple’. The bar has a pleasant ambiance for having a drink, cup of coffee or small bite. I really like this bar. The service, drinks and food are of high quality.

Pool:
The pool of Van der Valk hotel Duiven is on the top level of the hotel: the 14th floor! The pool  provides a magnificent view of the surroundings. It is not very big, but definitely worth a swim.

Wellness:
During my stay I did not do any wellness treatments or massages in this hotel. I know the hotel features a free fitness room and lots of wellness possibilities.

Overall, Van der Valk hotel Duiven is a very nice hotel to stay. The rooms are cosy and big, the restaurant provides good meals and extensive buffets, the location is good and the bar and pool are also very nice. Have you been already to this hotel? What did you thought about it?
