Review Von Resort Golden Coast in Colakli-Side

As you may already know, I’ve been to Turkey in June for a weekend and visited the Turkish Riviera. I already wrote a hotel review about the Granada Luxury Resort in Belek and wrote about the amazing theme park The Land Of Legends in Belek. For this article, I’ve went a little further from the airport, namely in Side. Besides the fact that Side is a really nice city with history, culture and fun, it also has some great resorts. During my stay in Side (Colakli), I stayed at the Von Resort Golden Coast. In this review, I will give my opinion about this resort.

General description
To be exact, the Von Resort Golden Coast is located in Colakli, directly at the beach. Side is the closest bigger city that can be found from Colakli, that’s also why I mentioned the city in the title of the article. The resort is located approximately 9 kilometers from the center of Side and is easily reachable by the well-known Dolmus busses.

The Von Resort Golden Coast is located directly next to the Von Club Golden Beach. Both hotels are using the same aquapark with the many slides. When you’re staying at one of the hotels, you can enter the aquapark for free.

Facilities
As almost all the resorts at the Turkish Riviera, Von Resort Golden Coast has much to offer. Next to the fact that the resort has a shared aquapark with Von Club Golden Beach (with 11 slides!), the hotel itself also has an indoor- and outdoor pool and a separated children’s pool. Around the pools and at the beach, you can use the sunbeds, the umbrellas and the towelservice for free.

For the children there is animation in the miniclub (ages from 4 until 12 years). Furthermore, there is a playground, lunapark (against payment) and a baby sitter (against payment).

Other facilities which the hotel offers are a disco, several shops, an internet café, laundry facilities, a hair dresser and a doctor. When you would like to play some sports, you can chose from several sport possibilities: table tennis, the aquapark, darts, beach volleyball are for free and billiards, bowling and diverse water sports at the beach are against payment. You can also use the fitness room, the Turkish bath or the sauna for free. Massages and facial treatments are against payment.

Hotel room
There are several room types which are suitable for both big as small families. During my stay in the hotel, I stayed in a standard room (with side sea view). The standard room can be booked for a maximum of three adults and consists out of a bathroom with bad or douche, toilet, television, minibar, safe (for free), air-conditioning, telephone, free WiFi and a balcony with seat. The standard room has a double bed and one single bed.

When you are with a bigger family, you can book a quad room (Bunk Bed Rooms). This is, looking at the facilities, similar to the standard room, but this room has more space and has next to a double bed, also a bunk bed. The room is suitable for a maximum of three adults and one child.

Then there is also the family suite room. Next to the facilities mentioned above, this room exists out of two spaces and has a double bed and two single beds. This room is also suitable for a maximum of three adults and one child. Last there are the suite rooms, which are even bigger and suitable for a maximum of four adults and one baby.

Restaurants and bar
There are both a buffet restaurant (the main restaurant) and à la carte restaurants. In the buffet restaurant, you’re able to sit both in- and outside. It is recommended to make a reservation for the à la carte restaurants. They are all opened the first of May. Von Resort Golden Coast offers the following à la carte restaurants: Beluga Fish Restaurant, Kaiseki Far East Restaurant, Kaftan Kebab House, Longhorn Steak House and Taco Time.

All-inclusive concept
The Von Resort Golden Coast offers the All Inclusive concept. The following services are included in summer time: breakfast from 07:00 until 10:00, late breakfast from 10:00 until 11:00, lunch from 12:30 until 14:00, diner from 19:00 until 21:30, everything in buffet style. Snacks from 12:30 until 16:00, coffee/tea and cookies from 14:30 until 18:00 and late-night snack from 23:30 until 00:30. All available local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from 10:00 until 24:00. Against payment: import drinks, fresh fruit juices, diner in the à la carte restaurants, drinks in the disco, bottles of drinks, roomservice and all the consumptions after 24:00. Look out: all the consumptions in the aquapark are against payment!

Price
The resort offers a great price-quality ratio. Even in summer time, the hotel can be booked for a reasonable price. Although some people think the hotel needs a little renewal, in my opinion the hotel looks great and you can book it for a great price. Perfect for the people who don’t want to spend a lot of money and doesn’t have big expectations (the rooms are simple).

Like you can see above, the resort has a perfect price-quality ratio and offers nice facilities and dining options. Although the resort isn’t located directly in Side, the city can be easily reached by the busses. The location does get four stars, because it’s located directly at the beach and directly at an aquapark. Although some people may think the rooms can use a renovation (it’s true, the rooms are very simple), I think that it’s most important that the rooms are clean, and they were.
