General description

MEININGER is a hotel brand that combines hostels and hotels. It has 17 hotels in 11 European cities. The ho(s)tels of MEINIGER are very suitable for an overnight when you are travelling in a group or go on family excursion. Since the hotels are a combination of hotel and hostel, you can expect a lot of youngsters.

Location

The location and accessibility of the hotel is very good. The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is located in the bubbly Berlin Mitte district on Oranienburger Straße, just 15 minutes away with public transportation from Berlin Central Station.

Address: Oranienburger Straße 67/68, Mitte, 10117 Berlin, Germany

Rooms

With 118 rooms, the hotel offers quite some possibilities. There are different room types;  six bedded room, classic twin room for single use, superior double room for single use, double room, superior double room, triple room and quadruple room. I stayed with five other friends in the six bedded room. The room was different than showed on the hotel’s website. It was pretty small and we had two bunk beds and one double bed. It just looked like a random hotel room with two bunk beds at the end of the double bed. Too small in my opinion for six persons. There was a desk with two chairs, a small flatscreen-television and a wardrobe. Why just two chairs if you booked the room for six people?! It would have been nice if we could have sit all together. The bathroom and toilet were separated from each other. This was really nice. The room, bathroom, bed sheets and towels were very clean..

Restaurant

The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus has a restaurant where you can have breakfast. I didn’t use the breakfast buffet, because there was a guest kitchen where we could prepare our breakfast ourselves.

Hotel facilities

The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus has a lounge, guest kitchen, luggage room and inner courtyard with a terrace. The lounge is located at the reception, is quite big and has a good WIFI signal. The best thing of this hotel is the guest kitchen! The kitchen is well equipped with cooking materials, plates, cups, refrigerators, washing machines, a table with chairs and a couch. It was really nice to use. The day on arrival we could already use the guest kitchen and luggage room before check-in time. Also after our stay, we could still use these facilities for free, which was very nice of the hotel.

Price

The price of this hotel is very reasonable. We payed for 1 night €99,90, so just €16,65 per person, per night. In my opinion this is a very good price, also if you consider all the facilities that you can use for free.

Overall, The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is a very nice hotel to stay. The rooms are clean, the location is very good, the price is reasonable and there a lot of facilities that you can use for free. Have you been already to this hotel? What do you think about it?

A bit disappointing that your room didn’t look like advertised on the website. But I think the hotel/hostel concept is a unique one that I haven’t seen before. Loved that you could use the kitchen before checking in and complimentary luggage storage is always a plus!

That looks like a good deal! I wonder if the deals would also be good for a solo traveler. I’ve never heard of the hostel chain, but if it’s in Mitte, the location must be good. And it certainly looks clean and cheerful in the photos!

Had not heard of Meininger hostels before and from the pictures, I really loved the place. Not many hostels allow you to use the common facilities, so in that case, this hostel looks good! Will try when I plan my trip here

Wow, that is a great price. I agree tho that with 6 people in one room, they should have made the room a bit larger and with more chairs 🙂 But one thing I thought was really nice was the fact that they allowed guests to continue to use the facility even after check out.

The hotel really has a retro feel to it which I think is lovely! But it’s a shame about the lack of room attributes. Thankfully the mention of the guest kitchen does make it all better! I love when hotels do that kind of things so you can stay but don’t have to constantly eat out, you can also cook a little something!
