I loved staying at ‘Sanur House’. This hotel is a beautiful, quiet, gorgeous, and peaceful, hidden gem in Bali. I moved around quite a bit during my two weeks stay, but wouldn’t have mind to stay longer at this hotel. This post will tell you why I enjoyed staying so much at ‘Sanur House’.
Boasting traditional Balinese architecture, the hotel is not only spacious and comfortable, but also feels traditional. Throughout the compound, you can find several Balinese decorations, for example on the hotel room doors, within the restaurant, and within the hotel’s boutique shop. In this boutique shop, several handmade products produced in Bali are sold. Sanur House is a beautiful, quiet, gorgeous, and peaceful, hidden gem in Bali.
I think what really contributed to a great stay, is the staff of Sanur House. The staff were really friendly and always referred to me by first name, which felt such personal. After breakfast, I usually spent another hour at the restaurant, just chatting with the staff. They were always so open, spontaneous, and wanted to learn about my life and my home country, The Netherlands. I especially would like to give my compliments to Agata, Henri, Santini, Mery, and, Kadek. When I had to return my scooter to the rental company, Henri drove with me, so I didn’t had to walk all the way back to the hotel. This was a great service! The staff also called several times a taxi for me, that always arrived on the agreed time.
Located in a quiet neighborhood in Sanur, Sanur House is only a 2-minute walk away from the main street of Sanur and a 10-minute stroll to Sanur Beach. Even though the hotel is close to the main road, there is no single noise on the hotel’s compound. It is really is a peaceful and quiet place.
Sanur House has two room types; Standard Room, and Deluxe Room. The eight Standard Rooms offer views over Sanur roof tops and landscaped gardens and the six Deluxe Rooms are situated on the ground floor of Sanur House. Both rooms have a comfortable king size bed, antique desk with casual chair, television, wardrobe, air-conditioning, and private bathroom with walk-in shower. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well maintained with a modern decor. My Deluxe room was bigger than the Standard Rooms, and offered an amazing view on the pool. It was decorated in a blue style, that gave a very fresh, modern, and trendy feeling. The bathroom was also modern and had a great warm shower, many free toiletries and bottled water. Outside the room, was a little seating area, with two chairs, and a little table. When I arrived at the room, there was a personalized letter welcoming me. How nice is that!?
Facilities and services
Sanur House has a small, but nice and refreshing pool with plenty of shade and sunbeds. Next to the pool, is the restaurant where you can have breakfast, or a drink anytime. This restaurant is also a seating area, where you can enjoy free WiFi or read a book during the day. During the evening, the staff will place all kind of cozy light candles around the pool. This gives a very warm and cozy atmosphere. Sanur House also offers all kind of services like; massages, tours, bicycle rental, book swaps, welcome drink upon arrival, and has a 24 hours front-desk. As mentioned before, the hotel also has a boutique shop, where you can buy several handmade products produced in Bali.
Next to the pool, you can enjoy breakfast or a drink in the open-air restaurant. The breakfast was truly delicious and one of the best breakfasts I had in Bali. I got scrambled eggs, a bowl with fresh fruits, yoghurt, and muesli, orange juice, coffee or tea, and toasted bread with butter and jam. It was a lot, but tasted really good! Sanur House also has a café in front of the building. This café serves a great selection of the best Thai- and Western dishes, and has a lovely, chill vibe. I once ordered lunch in the café, a tuna salad. Also this food, tasted really good.
This hotel can be considered as a budget hotel. Room rates differ between 450.000 RP ( around € 28,00) and 750.000 RP (around € 48,00) per room, so when staying with two persons, it will only costs you around € 14,00 per person for the cheapest room. I would recommend you to book via the website of Sanur House for the best rates, but the hotel is also bookable via Booking.com.
This overview is a summary of the above written text. I will rank the different aspects with stars, in what one star is very bad and five stars is very good.
