Hostel Review: Tatamka Hostel in Warsaw
In September this year, I visited Krakow and Warsaw together with a friend. It was a short get-away, so we didn’t want to spend too much money. How we get to this hostel? That’s a funny story. Actually, we booked an Airbnb. When we arrived at the flat somewhere in the evening, it turned out we couldn’t get into the apartment due to lacking information from Airbnb. With help from a local, we found this hostel. And honestly, we definitely don’t regret staying at the Tatamka Hostel. In this hostel review I’ll tell you some more about the accommodation.
Location
If you’re looking to all places in Warsaw, the Tatamka hostel is located very central. To each well-known place or attraction you’ve to walk a while to get there. Warsaw Old Town is located at approximately 20-30 minutes walking distance. In the direct neighbourhood of the hostel, you can find some dining places, but it’s definitely not a lively area. If you’d like to go out, it’s better to go more into the city centre. However, if you don’t mind walking a bit, it’s a nice place to stay at. At approximately 15 minutes walking distance you can also find a train station, which can bring you for example to the airport of Warsaw.
Facilities
The accommodation is not that big, but has a nice equipment. In the garden, you can find a cosy place where you can have a nice evening in the summer. Here you also can find a barbecue, which gives the finishing touch to the garden. Next to the fact that the hostel has a big kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea, it also offers a washing machine, clothes dryer, an iron and hair dryer. If you would like to use a computer, there are some which you can use for free. The WiFi can also be used for free, in your room as well as in the common area. Besides, if you need a place where you can leave your luggage for a while, the hostel also offers a luggage storage room. The reception is open 24/7, so there is always a possibility to ask for tips and to get some maps of Warsaw.
Rooms
Hostel Tatamka has rooms which can accommodate up to 90 people. There are both small, private rooms (for 1-4 people) or larger, shared rooms (for 6-8 people). In the shared rooms, you can book a single bed. During the one night we stayed at the Tatamka hostel, we stayed at a private double room. The double room is nicely decorated and consists out of two single beds. The room is very spacious and has a separate, private bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. You can get free towels at the reception, so you don’t have to bring your own, which is ideal! You can either book your stay with or without breakfast included.
Diner possibilities
In the hostel itself you cannot have dinner. However, there is a breakfast buffet each morning so if you would like to, you can have breakfast in the hostel against a small payment. If you would like to have diner, there are some eating possibilities in the direct neighbourhood of the hostel. However, I think it’s nicer to have diner in Warsaw Old Town. Here you also have more choices for a restaurant.
Price
In my opinion, the prices are good when you look at what you get for it. The rooms are fine and I had a good rest in the bed I slept. To me it looked like everything wasn’t that old yet, so that’s definitely a positive thing. We payed around € 40,- for two persons, in a private twin room with private bathroom. The most cheapest possibility to stay at is in a 6-bed room with a shared bathroom. When you chose for this option, the costs will be around € 7,- per person. You can book this hostel via Booking.com.
Overview
The overview is a summary of the points written above. I’ll give a point from one star until five stars where one star is very bad and five stars is very good.
